Alnwick Creative Theatre School

What We Do

All Students participate in Drama, Movement and Singing.
Students are requested to wear the ACTS uniform,
an ACTS T-Shirt, ACTS Sweat Shirt, Black Trousers and Jazz Shoes.

Breathing is taught. The Students learn how to breathe correctly so that they can produce the volume needed to project.
Every session starts with a warm up, where the students work together warming up their bodies and their minds, so that they go to classes focused and energised.
Most sessions end with a warm down exercises, an important life skill, and essential for any performer.
Script Work. The students work on scripts. Each student writes a monologue and performs this to camera.
Characterization. The students learn how to build up their characters, to know and understand them, and to present these characters as real people.
In Improvisation the students learn to let the situation flow, not to block each other, and to work as a team, whilst moving the situations forward.
The students learn how to create different atmospheres by the collective emotions, gestures and background conversation.
Using their script as a teaching tool, the students learn about Stage Craft.
In Singing classes, the Students learn how to sing and perform the current 'hits'. During the year, students prepare for the Summer Season, when they perform at venues around Alnwick.
Students learn different dances, where deportment, rhythm, co-ordination, flexibility and precision of movement are covered.  Jazz shoes can be purchased through ACTS.
The students learn about rehearsals, to prepare, to learn their lines, to hit their mark and to respect the other actors.
Team Building. Students learn to work separately as individuals, together as a group and collectively as a school
Tools of the Trade. Students learn to become comfortable with microphones, to understand the different types, and to use them accordingly. Cameras are used and the Students learn to talk to camera, and then to ignore it whilst acting
Direction. Students learn to follow directions, and to understand the relationship between Director and Actor
